Fight For Freedom
Introduction: Today's lesson will involve a hands on group activity that involves creating a map to show students the battles that took place between the Loyalists and the Patriots. This lesson will give students an idea of what Patriots had to go through in order to establish independence and win a war against the strongest military at the time.
Objectives:
Content/Knowledge (Head):
1. Students will be able to identify battles between the Patriots and Loyalists.

1. Students will be able to use a map to reference battles that took place from the American Revolution.

1. Students will be able to recognize the significance of the revolution and how it shaped America forever.

1. The central focus of this lesson is for students to use their multiple intelligences to see the significance of the war. At the end of this lesson, students will have their own map of some of the major war battles that took place.

- Britain had a much larger population (8 million to 2.5 million)
- The Americans lacked an Army and Navy
- America could no longer rely on the British for their Army and Navy
- Loyalists were afraid of losing their jobs (and that is why they fought)
- American Patriots were much more determined to gain independence.

- Military members were paid.
- America was untrained and poorly equipped.
- Britain was fighting for a paycheck (cannot spend it if they are dead, so many quit after getting paid)
